The Jean MacArthur Research & Education Center Renovation and Expansion

Preserving the past. Expanding the future.

A New Chapter Begins

For more than sixty years, the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation and the MacArthur Memorial have worked to preserve and share an extraordinary and continually growing collection of artifacts, archives, documents, and digital records. As the collection grows, so does the demands of preserving these materials and the opportunities to keep them accessible to researchers, students, educators, and the public.

Now, we are looking ahead to the next sixty years and beyond.

The renovation and expansion of the Jean MacArthur Research & Education Center will provide the space, environmental protections, security, and modern facilities needed to care for this collection while expanding the Memorial's capacity for research, education, and public engagement.

Enduring Legacy

$18.5M Campaign

image.png

The General Douglas MacArthur Foundation has launched an $18.5M capital campaign to renovate and expand the Jean MacArthur Research & Education Center.

This transformational investment will strengthen educational programs, advance research capabilities, and provide the space and resources necessary to preserve a rapidly growing collection for all future generations.

“We are stewards of a public collection unlike any other - one that preserves an essential part of our shared history. The new center is a generational commitment to preserving that history and to creating a dynamic place to better support education and public access.”

- Amanda Williams, Director of the MacArthur Memorial

A Legacy of Her Own

Jean Faircloth MacArthur was more than the wife of General Douglas MacArthur. Her story is an enduring part of the legacy preserved here.

More than fifty years ago, Jean MacArthur stood in front of the MacArthur Memorial. Today, the Center bearing her name is being transformed to serve generations still to come.

Her name connects the history we inherited with the future we are building.
